Team

When I took a chance and started my LuLaRoe business in the fall of 2016, building a "team" was never a goal. Honestly, I actually wanted to avoid it until I had my own business off the ground and running and new the ins and outs of everything. I felt that if I had the responsibility of being someone's mentor right after I started that either (1) I wouldn't be available or knowledgeable enough to help them be successful or (2) that my own business would suffer as I tried to juggle both responsibilities before I had learned the ropes myself. So, I focused on growing my own business and learning everything I could in those first few months.
The funny thing is that all of my previous jobs sort of came together and collided with LuLaRoe. All of those years I spent working in retail and retail management equipped me with so much knowledge about merchandising and customer service and styling. All of my years as a handmade shop owner taught me so much about social media, product photography and what a wonderful thing collaborating with other business owners can be. My years at the hospital made me realize how you can make someone's day (or change their life) by simply being kind and taking the time to listen and that everyday I have the opportunity to be a light to others. After a few months with LuLaRoe, I noticed how all of those things meshed together and that this business was literally my favorite part of every past job I've had, minus all the stuff that drove me crazy and pushed me to pursue other things.
I was happier than I had been in a really long time.
I was home with my girls every single day.
I was able to help provide for my family.
I was doing something so dang FUN that I was passionate about...and it gave me the avenue to build a loving, positive community that I had been trying for so long to create.
And then something funny happened.
(a few of my girls and I at a local event we put together)

One by one girls started coming to me, telling me about their family and their goals and wondering if this business could work for them. We would talk or text or message for hours, becoming friends along the way, and after lots of thought and prayer, they decided this business was the right fit for them as well. And that's the beauty of LuLaRoe...it works for you and not the other way around. I don't have a big "team" by any means but the handful of ladies doing this along side of me are friends and we're all better versions of ourselves, not only because of LuLaRoe, but because we have each other to rely on. Each girl on my team started their business for a different reason. One had a huge goal of adoption...she achieved it. Another wanted to work towards buying her first home with her husband...she did it. Some wanted to supplement their family income so that their husbands didn't have to travel away from home for work so much and others just needed something to call their own...something to give them a sense of purpose outside of being a mama or a wife. If you talked to any of my girls, they would all tell you that, because of LuLaRoe, they have been able to achieve their goal (whatever it was) and that they got a whole lot more than they bargained for, in the best possible way. There's something to be said for having a tribe behind you...not just for help with business questions and advice but a group of people who are behind you, no matter what. We keep in touch daily, even if it's to celebrate little victories that have nothing to do with our businesses (we got out of the house with all of the kids, on time, didn't forget anything at the grocery store AND nobody cried!)...to vent about anything, without judgment, when we need to and we've been there for each other as a shoulder to cry on and to offer a listening ear & prayers when life it tough and hard things happen. They'll also tell you that this isn't easy and that having your own business will grow and stretch and test you in ways you didn't expect...but that they're better not only because of their successes, but because of their struggles as well.
As far as the business side of things go, I LOVE putting my past experience to use to help other woman launch, grow and succeed with their business. It's something that I'm fiercely passionate about. If you ever have any questions about what this LuLa life is like, never hesitate to ask me. If you're local, come over and lets chat and have a cup of coffee...if you're not, I'm always just a phone call, text or email away!
